Estampa Contemporary Art Fair, which will be held from 21st to 24th September in Matadero Madrid, is celebrating its 25th anniversary. In order to celebrate it, this edition will offer a wide program with activities to promote contemporary art collecting in our country, as well as gallerism and Spanish art, both at home and abroad.
In a few days Estampa, one of the great contemporary art fairs in Spain, will start, which gathers more than eighty galleries, both Spanish and international. Consolidated already as the national fair of reference for private collectors, it celebrates its 25th anniversary with a complete programme of activities.
As a guest artist, this year will be attended by Pedro Cabrita Reis (Lisbon, Portugal, 1956). Cabrita Reis is considered as one of the Portuguese artists with the greatest international career and is an authentic reference point for the contemporary art scene in his country. His work is crucial to understand the new sculptural paradigm that began in the mid-eighties. The main novelty of this edition is Colecciona Meeting Point, a program of special guests, which under the coordination of Eva Ruiz and the Arternative team will bring together private collectors, consultants and collection managers, institutional directors and market professionals and collectors from all over Europe.
Another novelty will be an international press programme that will host various international media in collaboration with the offices of Turespaña in London, Berlin, Paris and Rome. Through this initiative you will be able to discover and deepen the artistic scene and the art market of our country.
Likewise, on the occasion of the Fair's anniversary, all international guests will be able to know about the evolution of contemporary art in our country thanks to the discussion forum 'Arte contemporáneo en España. Desde la transición hasta nuestros días', coordinated and moderated by Rosina Gómez Baeza, former director of the ARCO Fair.
In addition, for the second consecutive year will take place the Residencies Exchange II. Programa Curatorial Estampa 2017 program, in which the heads of the main artistic residences in Europe will get to know first-hand the best contemporary art projects proposed by Estampa galleries.
There will also be Colecciona en Estampa and MAPA. Intended for all those who want to go into the purchase of contemporary art, Colecciona en Estampa is a cycle of meetings, conversations with collectors and other activities that aim to promote private collection in our country. While, MAPA is a section of galleries about the discourses and approximations of art to art itself, which will be directed by Guillermo Espinosa for the third time.
