Valverde de Alcalá

VALVERDE DE ALCALÁ

The natural environment of Valverde de Alcalá is characterized by its location in the Henares Basin. In its lands you can contemplate the countryside with specimens of olive, almond and pine trees. The agricultural and livestock work has also shaped the urban architecture of the municipality and it is possible to observe rural houses and buildings with traditional characteristics. It is a delight to stroll through the streets and surroundings of the town center to see how much Valverde has to offer.

Within the artistic heritage of the municipality is the Parish Church of Santo Tomás, dating from the seventeenth century and where, externally, highlights the tower. The interior of the temple houses a relief of the sixteenth century and a Gothic carving of the Virgin and Child. In Valverde you can also see a former Dominican convent, from the 17th century.
