Leisure and Gastronomy

LEISURE AND GASTRONOMY

Aranjuez offers a wide range of leisure activities throughout the year, from a festival of International Tourist Interest, music festivals or activities in its natural environment.

Nature

Aranjuez is an immense green monument ideal for walking, cycling or horseback riding. Sites such as the wetlands of the Mar de Ontígola, a natural and ornithological environment, or the El Regajal estate have been declared a Protected Natural Area. Long poplar groves of centenary trees, orchards, paths and riverside groves extend between the riverbeds of the Tagus, the Jarama and the Caz or Canal de la Azuda.

Gastronomy

In the popular restaurants of the city, the magnificent products of the valley are prepared. The traditional gastronomy of Aranjuez was once the delight of royalty and nobility, today traditional or renewed continues to delight locals and visitors in the many restaurants scattered throughout the city.

If picnicking is your thing, we recommend the picnic areas on the banks of the Tagus River, popularly known as "gangos".

A place for music

In Aranjuez you can also enjoy festivals such as Clásicos de Verano. Check the program of the Carlos III Royal Coliseum and the Isabel de Farnesio Cultural Center.

An option to visit the gardens in a different way, are the concerts offered in the Church of San Antonio, or the famous "Musical Walks", in which you are guided making stops where you can enjoy short concerts.

Festivals

In the chapter of festivals, the Motín de Aranjuez occupies a prominent place because it has the qualification of Festival of International Tourist Interest. In them, you can see hundreds of neighbors, dressed in the style of the time. Experience the assault on Manuel Godoy's house as if you were living in the 19th century.
